UVM, faculty union reach tentative contract agreement

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The University of Vermont has made a tentative contract deal with its faculty union.

UVM Officials say the school reached a collective bargaining agreement Tuesday with United Academics, its full-time faculty union.

The agreement — which is still under wraps — is still subject to approval by the board of trustees and ratification by union members.

Compensation has been one of the key factors for both faculty and staff unions as they say wages have not kept pace with the cost of living in the Burlington area. They have also said hiring has not kept pace with record student enrollment levels in recent years.
