BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Police at the University of Vermont say they have identified a suspicious man spotted on campus earlier this month, and he is not connected to an attempted sexual assault that happened nearby.
Burlington police say a man tackled a woman and tried to rip her clothes off in that assault near the UVM campus at South Prospect and Maple streets on Nov. 2.
A week later, UVM police asked the public for help identifying a suspicious man seen on campus who was briefly detained and then took off.
At the time, they weren’t sure whether the two incidents were related.
Tuesday, UVM police said they identified the man seen on campus and he has been issued a trespass notice to stay off UVM property. And they say they do not believe he had anything to do with the attempted sexual assault. They did not release his name.
