Driver, 14, and passenger charged after North Country police chase

AUSABLE, N.Y. (WCAX) – Two teens face charges after a police chase through the North Country involving a stolen car, and troopers say the driver wasn’t even old enough to have a license.

New York State Police say an investigation into a stolen vehicle report in Ausable on Sunday night led them on a chase down Interstate 87 after the car in question refused to pull over.

That chase lasted 34 miles and ended when a stinger deployment sent the car into a guard rail.

Troopers say they found a 14-year-old boy behind the wheel. His two passengers were 12-year-old and 17-year-old boys.

All three boys were taken to the hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening.

The 14-year-old driver is charged with criminal possession of stolen property. The 17-year-old is charged with grand larceny. They were released and will appear in Clinton County Family Court.
