WASHINGTON (WCAX) – Vermont’s congressional delegation is again raising concerns about continued U.S. weapons sales to Israel.
Senators Bernie Sanders and Peter Welch, joined by Senate colleagues, held a press conference Tuesday ahead of a vote to block the sale of offensive arms to Israel. The move stems from ongoing humanitarian concerns that Israel relied on American-supplied weapons to bomb Gaza, killing over 43,000 Palestinians during the 13-month war, many of them women and children.
“It is time to tell the Netanyahu government that they cannot use U.S. taxpayer dollars and American weapons in violation of U.S. and international law and our moral values,” Sanders said.
The Biden administration in October told Israel that it had 30 days to improve the flow of aid to Gaza or risk losing U.S. military aid.
The senators will bring the resolutions to the Senate floor on Wednesday.
