WASHINGTON (WCAX) – An addition to President-elect Donald Trump’s team has ties to our region.
Trump has tapped Karoline Leavitt to be his press secretary.
Leavitt was Trump’s campaign press secretary and is a spokesperson for his transition.
The 27-year-old has aggressively defended Trump in interviews, endearing her to him.
Leavitt is from New Hampshire and ran for Congress in New Hampshire in 2022. She won a 10-way Republican primary but then lost the race to Democrat Chris Pappas.
Two years earlier, Leavitt was the communications director for Northern New York Rep. Elise Stefanik.
Leavitt will be the youngest press secretary in history.
