BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Several events are coming up to mark the Veterans Day weekend.
A new structure to honor the men and women who served their country is coming to St. Albans. The new columbarium, a building to store funeral urns, will be dedicated at a ceremony Saturday. It will offer a dignified resting place for veterans and their family members. The dedication ceremony starts at 11 a.m. at the St. Albans National Cemetery.
Saturday is also the 26th annual Scouting Salute to Veterans Parade. Brandon will host the event for the first time in the parade’s history. Scout groups from across Vermont, Norwich University cadets, and high school bands will participate. The parade will run down Park Street before a brief ceremony at the town green. It all gets started Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
The Vermont-based nonprofit Vets Town Hall aims to increase understanding between veterans and civilians in an event taking place Friday in several communities. Veterans are encouraged to speak for 10 minutes and the public is invited to attend and listen.
