Burlington Police investigating random attempted sexual assault

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Authorities are searching for a suspect they say tackled a woman in Burlington and tried to rip off her clothes last Saturday.

Burlington Police say an unknown man ran out from behind a building near the intersection of Maple and South Prospect Streets and tackled a woman walking down the street into the bushes. They say bystanders pulled him away and that he fled.

Police did not report the incident to UVM Police or the public until Friday.

The suspect is described as a white male over 30 years old with longer dark hair, scruffy facial hair, and between 5′8 and 5′10.
