Fire officials advise changing smoke alarm batteries ahead of time change

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – An extra hour of daylight is on the calendar this weekend – but firefighters have a word of warning as we turn our clocks back.

The Clinton County Firefighters Association says daylight savings time on Sunday is a good time to change batteries in smoke alarms and CO2 detectors.

The National Fire Prevention Association recommends switching batteries twice a year and replacing smoke detectors every ten years.
