Colchester’s diverging diamond project faces setback

BARRE, Vt. (WCAX) – The diverging diamond project in Colchester has hit a bump in the road.

The $14 million project at Exit 16 seeks to improve traffic flow and safety and is the first project of its kind in the state.

VTrans has been searching for a contractor to carry out phase two of the project, but Friday afternoon officials said they have rejected the only bid for the project.

Officials say they are evaluating whether they need to make any changes to the plan before putting it out to bid again.
