High school students explore careers in health care

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (WCAX) – What would a career in health care look like? About 250 high school students in the North Country on Tuesday got a first-hand look.

The University of Vermont Health Network hosted a career fair at SUNY Plattsburgh, featuring an array of booths from partner UVM hospitals.

Students browsed from table to table, learning more about fields like clinical care and IT support.

The network’s talent manager says they also help cover tuition costs for students looking to enter the field.

“They have a really bright future as far as opportunities once they graduate and stay here if they choose to do so,” said Katrina Stone of the University of Vermont Health Network.

Stone says the network will host another career fair in Burlington this spring.
