BENNINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – An emotional meeting in Bennington earlier Tuesday night.
The Southwestern Vermont Union Elementary School District board heard public comment over an alleged ban on the pledge of allegiance at Shaftsbury Elementary School.
Two packed rooms of parents, veterans, and flags, all from Shaftsbury, Bennington, Pownal, and Woodford discussed the alleged ban with the school board.
The board had left it up to the individual school principals to decide whether or not to ban the pledge. No action was taken by members of the board tonight, but they say they’ll discuss the next steps at next month’s meeting.
