Clinton County health officials report 2nd case of West Nile virus

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (WCAX) – Clinton County health officials on Tuesday reported another case of West Nile virus, the season’s second case.

The infected person is a Plattsburgh resident younger than 50 who began experiencing symptoms in September before being hospitalized.

The first case was previously reported in late September and involved a 50-year-old Chazy resident.

To prevent mosquitoes, officials say to get rid of standing water, like in old tires or toys, and to cover up or use repellent.

Officials say free mosquito dunks are still available to Clinton County residents.
