BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The University of Vermont says it is moving forward with renovations for the Royall Tyler Theatre with the help of a $1 million gift.
Constructed in 1901 as a gymnasium, the theater went on to become the home of UVM’s theatre department and is used for theater, dance, and other events. But it needs some upgrades to the bathrooms and other spaces on the first floor.
UVM officials say an anonymous $1 donation from a UVM alum will help fund the much-needed upgrades.
Work is expected to begin in the spring.
