BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – After a tumultuous two years which left the department without a permanent leader, Burlington’s Racial Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Office is looking to re-brand, and they’re asking the public for help.
Tuesday evening at Main Street Landing, roughly a dozen Burlingtonians sat down with the REIB Department for their second vision and mission redesign session.
The department presented its accomplishments, giving an overview of its language access policy, equity index map, anti-bias training, and distribution of over a quarter million dollars in addition to their events, projects, and committee work.
Now, they’re asking the community what they should do next.
“We are a public government entity, we are here for the people, and so we want to do as much as we can so that we’re serving the public,” said Interim REIB Director Phet Keomanyvanh.
There are three more public meetings scheduled on October 9th, 19th and 30th.
