Johnson Public Library awarded grant to move to new location following flood damage

JOHNSON, Vt. (WCAX) – The Johnson Public Library will move to drier grounds after being damaged by flooding.

The trustee board for the library announced that they had been awarded a grant for just under $1.69 million from the Vermont Department of Libraries through the U.S. Treasury’s Capital Projects Fund grant program.

The money will pay for the library to be moved out of the flood zone on Railroad Street to a safer location on Legion Field.

Along with moving and preserving the historic building, the library also plans to use the money to install updated heating and cooling systems, create more parking, meeting rooms, private spaces for telehealth services, and a computer lab.
