COLCHESTER, Vt. (WCAX) – A Colchester fertility clinic is celebrating a major milestone. After 10 years in business, Northeastern Reproductive Medicine has helped conceive more than 1,700 babies.
Infertility affects one in six people, and staffers say struggling to conceive can be emotionally difficult and even traumatizing.
But as the health care industry evolves, so, too, do the clinic’s possibilities.
“We’re now actually able to test embryos before we transfer them. This has been true for a decade, but the platforms and the scientific technology have improved significantly. So that per embryo that we transfer into the uterus, the success is higher than it was 10 years ago,” said Dr. Jenny Brown of Northeastern Reproductive Medicine.
New advancements also allow doctors to screen for genetic disorders and chromosomal abnormalities, which has helped to reduce miscarriage rates and improve birth rates.
To celebrate their success, the clinic is hosting an event this weekend for past patients to share stories and toast to growing families.
