Police say assault suspect tried to escape arrest 3 times

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Police say a Burlington man accused of assault tried to run away from them three times.

Burlington police say Jason Anderson, 48, hit a person on the head with something metal Tuesday morning in Battery Park.

When they tried to arrest him, police say Anderson tried to get away on a bicycle twice, but was eventually taken into custody.

Then, before being taken to jail, officers say Anderson again tried to escape but was unsuccessful.

He faces a number of charges including aggravated assault and impeding an officer.

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment. We don’t know how seriously that person was injured.
