PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (WCAX) – Plattsburgh’s Common Council is set to vote Thursday on an interim transit center location.
Mayor Chris Rosenquest says the proposal would move the Greyhound and Trailways station to the former farmers market facility in the Durkee Street parking lot.
The proposal comes after months of criticism from Clinton County officials over the lack of shelter and bathrooms at the current stop outside the government center.
Rosenquest says the agreement includes bathrooms that would be accessible 24 hours a day. “People said we have these concerns without many recommendations for an actual solution. This is a recommendation for a proposed solution that will solve and address a number of those concerns people have raised,” he said. The mayor says it will likely be a $1,000 month-to-month lease.
Clinton County Legislator Mark Henry, R-Area 3, says Rosenquest’s proposal “sounds like a solution to a self-made problem.”
