Central Vermont Medical Center support staff to hold union vote

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – On Wednesday, hospital support staff in central Vermont are voting on the future of labor rights at work.

Wednesday and Thursday, almost 450 support staff at Central Vermont Medical Center will hold a secret ballot election to decide if they want to form a union.

That’s according to AFT Vermont, a union representing healthcare and higher education workers in the state.

The vote should be counted by Thursday afternoon.

If the staff members vote to form a union, they’ll start collective bargaining with the hospital.
