RUTLAND, Vt. (WCAX) – The Vermont State Fair opens at the Rutland Fairgrounds on Tuesday evening for a five-day run.
The gates at the Rutland Fairgrounds open at 5 p.m. Tuesday for Five Dollar Day.
Along with all the rides, concerts, and usual fair food, Vermont agriculture is always the main attraction at the fair, with pigs, cows, goats, oxen, horses, and other barnyard animals on display throughout the week.
Members of the Rutland County 4H say they’ve spent a lot of time preparing for the showcase. “This is my second time mounted — it’s really fun and I enjoy being here,” said Thea Chase, a 4H horse participant.
“The kids and the families work really well and it’s definitely crazy — everyone works well together. That’s one of the things we work on, is working on teamwork and cooperation — responsibility,” said 4H organizer Kristen McLaughlin.
