RUTLAND, Vt. (WCAX) – A new pedestrian and bike bridge is almost ready for Rutland residents and visitors.
The bridge next to Meadow Street Park connects to the Rutland Creek Path, which was created in the earlier stages of the project. City officials say it will eventually connect the Rutland Rec Center to Pine Street Park and additional trails for hiking and mountain biking.
“This is another really important piece of the puzzle for outdoor recreation in Rutland. That’s one of the main attractions for people staying in Rutland or resettling their families in Rutland — is the outdoor rec opportunities, said Rutland Board of Alderman President Michael Talbott. “The whole city will be connected by this path, so this is really exciting.”
City officials say there are still multiple stages to go before the entire bike and walking path are complete.
