CHITTENDEN, Vt. (WCAX) – First responders from all over Chittenden County gathered to honor one of their own.
The body of Chittenden Volunteer Fire Department Captain Charlie Parker was escorted down Route 7 by Vermont State Police cruisers. Parker was found unresponsive Monday at the station after returning from a barn fire. Along the route, members of local fire departments came together to honor Parker. Local fire officials say it’s about making sure his service to the town of Chittenden is never forgotten.
“Its the comradery of the brotherhood and sisterhood of the fire service. When we lose one of our own, regardless of where they came from in the state it’s important that we show our respect and support to one another.” said Underhill Jericho Fire Department Assistant Chief, Robert Stone
Captain Parker was a member of the Chittenden Volunteer Fire Department for more than 40 years.
