MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – Community meetings begin this week as hospitals look to the future of health care in Vermont.
It’s part of 2022 legislation that called for health care reform. The regulatory Green Mountain Care Board is starting a series of meetings across the state looking for public feedback on how to improve access, affordability, quality and sustainability.
At the Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital, officials are hoping for new ways to improve workforce housing, to attract more health care professionals to the state and to improve accessibility for patients.
“Access to care, access to specialists, making sure that people don’t have to wait a long time for an appointment. Also making sure that people don’t have to travel a long distance to access those specialists. Those are some of our biggest challenges right now,” said Shawn Tester, the CEO of Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital.
The first meeting is Tuesday in Newport. Click here for the full list of meetings.
