PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (WCAX) – Federal funding will help pay for two accessible trail projects in the Adirondacks.
The Adirondack Land Trust got about $3 million from the Northern Border Regional Commission to create accessible trails on more than 400 acres of land.
The funding will go toward two trails — one in Lake Placid and the other at the Glenview Preserve just outside of Saranac Lake.
It will be used to create gravel-paved paths for seniors or those who are disabled.
“As we got into it we really felt like we could really connect the community to the outdoors, a wider circle of the community,” said ALT’s Mike Carr.
The Glenview work will kick off next year and Lake Placid is slated for 2026.
