Changes to Vt. DMV begin Monday

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Changes coming down the pike for the Department of Motor Vehicles are taking effect on Monday.

In the past, car models that were old enough didn’t require a vehicle title to get registered with the state, but new legislation rolled back that exemption.

Cars that were already exempt still are, and no action is required.

Starting next year, EV and plug-in hybrid drivers will have an additional infrastructure fee for registration – $89 for EVs and $44.50 For plug-in hybrids.

That is in addition to the current registration fee.
