BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Unionized nurses at Vermont’s largest hospital say they are mulling over a possible strike.
Union representatives say they are not close to reaching a deal on a new contract with the University of Vermont Medical Center.
Their current contract, agreed to in 2022, expires in about three weeks on July 9. It included a 20% base wage increase.
They say pay, benefits and working conditions are the major sticking points now.
Union nurses voted to strike in 2018. It lasted two days and led to a 16% pay increase over three years.
