BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – New numbers are out on how many people are homeless in Vermont.
The annual Point in Time count tallies up how many people are unsheltered on a single day nationwide.
The Housing and Homeless Alliance of Vermont says this year was another record, with 3,458 unhoused Vermonters on a single night.
They say that’s an increase of 300% over pre-COVID levels. And they say many of those people are from vulnerable groups, like those with mental illness or physical disabilities, children, seniors or domestic violence survivors.
