BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – A federal housing official stopped In Burlington on Monday to discuss the area’s housing needs.
U.S. Housing and Urban Development Acting Secretary Adrienne Todman and Vermont Rep. Becca Balint were at the Richard Kemp Center in Burlington to celebrate BIPOC homeownership.
They were also there checking on the biggest housing concerns from community members.
Burlington’s vacancy rate routinely hovers around 1% or less.
“We need more condos, we need more single-family homes, we need more apartments. We need more homes with people who are homeless and need someplace safe to live each and every night. I know the two leaders standing next to me are firmly aligned with that and will fight for the resources that we need,” Todman said.
Todman also met with local residents to discuss their housing needs as they work toward homeownership.
