3 face charges in Shaftsbury drug, shooting investigation

SHAFTSBURY, Vt. (WCAX) – Three Shaftsbury residents now face drug charges stemming from an investigation into a shooting that took place at a home in the town last October involving two New Jersey men.

Vermont State Police on Wednesday said that Kiona Kinney, 28; Denise Huether, 57; and Jeffery Millette 30, were arrested last month. They say a search of Kinney’s home on Twitchell Hill Road found more than 500 bags of fentanyl, along with cocaine, ammunition, and other evidence of drug use and distribution.

Police say Mohamad Hamdi and Matthew Osei, both from New Jersey, entered the home on October 23 and forced the two occupants into the basement, where they assaulted two of them. Authorities say one was shot by Osei while trying to flee. Both Osei and Mohamed are being held without bail on charges including attempted first-degree murder, kidnapping, and aggravated assault.

Police say Kinney faces charges of sale of cocaine and violating conditions. Huether and Mullett were charged with various drug crimes including knowingly permitting a residence to be used to sell regulated drugs.
