BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Volunteers on Wednesday helped paint over graffiti in downtown Burlington to prepare for two new murals.
Members of the group Arts So Wonderful and Champlain College students painted over graffiti in the alleyway near Akes’ Place on Church Street.
One of two new murals is going up during this year’s upcoming Juneteenth events. The group’s Bruce Wilson says the goal is to install artwork to further deter taggers.
“They want self-expression, right? And so we just want to give them an opportunity to self-express itself legally,” he said.
The Juneteenth mural will be painted on June 15th.
