Avian flu cases spark concern over national spread

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Cow health is on the minds of New York state officials amid a rise in avian flu cases in cattle as well as humans.

New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand says that the cases of avian flu in cows have been in Texas, but because of the Empire State’s large dairy industry, she’s concerned about national spread.

In a letter to the Whitehouse Office of Pandemic Preparedness and Response Policy, Gillibrand is calling on them to release how they are collaborating with other agencies to release up-to-date information about the spread of the virus.
