Truck driver accused in deadly Vermont crash faces additional charge

MORETOWN, Vt. (WCAX) – A truck driver who police say caused a head-on crash that killed a Waitsfield woman now faces an additional charge of involuntary manslaughter.

The wreck happened last month on Route 100 in Moretown. Vermont State Police say Satnam Singh, 24, of Ontario, was headed south in his tractor-trailer when he crossed the center line and struck a car driven by Rosetta Weber, 39, of Waitsfield. Weber died at the scene.

Singh was initially charged with gross negligent operation with death resulting, which he pleaded not guilty to last month. But on Monday, troopers said Singh now faces the additional charge of involuntary manslaughter.

He remains jailed for a lack of bail and is due in court on the new charge Wednesday.
