Notch Road opens for the season

STOWE, Vt. (WCAX) – A sign of the season — Smugglers’ Notch is now open to drivers.

VTrans says scenic Route 108 officially opened at noon Tuesday.

Officials say new traffic control devices, chicanes, have been added on the Cambridge and Stowe sides this year to try and prevent large trucks and busses from getting stuck on narrow and curvy road.

The Notch Road usually stays open until late November or the first major snowstorm.
