BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermonters spend plenty of time recreating on the state’s lakes and ponds, and now the Department of Environmental Conservation is looking for help to keep them healthy.
The Vermont Lakes and Ponds program is looking for summertime volunteers to help monitor and collect information on waterbodies across the state.
Volunteers can be found at lakes and ponds greeting visitors, inspecting boats, collecting water samples, or tracking algae blooms.
With over 800 ponds and lakes in Vermont, the DEC says volunteers are vital.
