MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermonters on Medicaid who were affected by a recent cyberattack can get free identity theft protections.
Hackers in February targeted Change Healthcare, which operates Vermont’s Medicaid pharmacy claims system.
The Vermont Department of Health Access says the company still hasn’t told them what information from Vermonters may have been compromised, and says it could take several months before they are able to identify and notify affected customers directly.
In the meantime, Change Healthcare’s parent company, UnitedHealth, is offering both free credit monitoring and identity theft protection for two years.
