How NASA satellite helps scientists measure effects of climate change

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – On this Earth Day, NASA is taking a deep dive into climate change and ocean health.

The space agency’s PACE satellite is working to measure the effects of climate change from space.

Two of the things it’s looking at are ocean health and atmospheric particles.

“Space is a really great vantage point to observe what’s happening on the entire globe. You know, we’re making measurements all the time, every day, everywhere on the planet and so that allows us to really understand the global phenomenon, which is climate change,” said Kirk Knobelspiesse of NASA.

Knobelspiesse says PACE is helping scientists better understand some of the longer-term trends in how our climate is changing and measuring its effects.
