STOWE, Vt. (WCAX) – Rescue crews are asking you to stay out of the backcountry on eclipse day. Stowe Mountain Rescue says after the snow over the last few days , it may be appealing for thrill seekers to want to hit the backcountry. However, as temperatures warm up, it will result in extremely slick conditions. If you do decide to go out despite the recommendation, Stowe Mountain asks you be prepared with essential gear like proper boots and warm layers. With thousands of expected travelers coming to the region to view the eclipse, they say response times if you find yourself stuck or in trouble could be delayed.
