MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – The U.S. Postal Service has confirmed it has a new location for a post office in Montpelier.
Since last summer’s flooding, Montpelier residents have had to travel to various locations to drop off and pick up mail, but that’s about to change.
The Postal Service says it has leased a spot within the City Center building at 89 Main Street.
The lease officially began on Monday and work will soon begin to make it a functioning post office. Officials hope to have it up and running by the summer months.
The building is elevated and was one of the few downtown that avoided floodwaters last July.
There is still no word on when the Federal Building, which housed the former post office, will reopen.
