Burlington woman charged with animal cruelty

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – A Burlington woman faces charges after authorities found multiple animals living in squalor in her home and others dead outside.

Danielle Bean, 46, was charged Sunday with 16 counts of animal cruelty. Burlington Police say it started in February when police and a member of the Humane Society were given permission to enter the home and found at least nine cats, five parakeets, and two lizards in unsanitary conditions and with insufficient food and water. Several were taken into protective custody. In mid-March, police say Bean’s landlord reported finding three dead cats over a few weeks.

Police say Bean also has a history of run-ins with authorities including multiple convictions
