Chainsaw-wielding man injures staff, destroys property at St. Johnsbury hospital

ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. (WCAX) – A state trooper and hospital staff members are on the mend after a scary incident involving a chainsaw.

According to information from police, the altercation occurred on March 25 at 5 p.m. at the Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital.

State police say 27-year-old Tyler Roy of Hardwick was at the hospital swinging a chainsaw and destroying property. Multiple hospital staff and a Vermont State Police trooper were injured while trying to gain control of Roy.

He was taken into custody and evaluated and is scheduled to appear at the Caledonia County Superior Court on May 6.
