New Hampshire asks eclipse visitors to stay on state highways

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Warnings for eclipse commuters traveling through Coos County.

New Hampshire’s Department of Transportation, law enforcement, and local officials are asking visitors to stay on state highways for their eclipse trips.

They say secondary highways and local roads are not designed for large volumes of traffic.

Spring in the North Country means spring conditions on the roads, such as frost heaves and soft shoulders.

They’re also warning drivers heading south to be ready for slow travel post-eclipse.
