1 man sentenced in North Country murder, another faces new charge

CHESTERFIELD, N.Y. (WCAX) – One man has been sentenced for his role in a North Country murder and another faces new charges after allegedly causing issues in the courtroom.

Michael Rougeau, 48, and Michael Nastasia, 30, pleaded guilty to manslaughter earlier this year for the killing of Kenneth Darrah, 37, of Keeseville.

Police say the men got into a fight on the Ausable Chasm bridge in Chesterfield. Darrah was stabbed and thrown off the side into the water below.

The men told police they thought Darrah was an informant for law enforcement.

Rougeau was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Prosecutors say Nastasia requested new counsel and caused issues in the courtroom on Monday. He’s facing a new charge following that and is expected back in court next month.
