People eat, drink their way through Ferment Fest

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Despite the snowy weather — local fermenters gathered to celebrate fermented foods and drinks and some of the local producers who make them at this year’s Ferment Fest.

Vendors were stationed throughout the soda plant in Burlington – each highlighting a specific type of fermented food, beverage, and natural dyes. Visitors had the opportunity to chat, ask questions about fermentation and sample the vendors’ products.

“My favorite part about all this today is coming out of making space and getting to engage with the community, it’s really nice to be able to see people that are you know into the same stuff that I’m into IE: the arts, food, ferments,” ceramic artist Zoe Rae said.

The goal of this event is to inspire those to eat and make more fermented foods and continue to support fermenters in the local community.
