Man arrested in Plattsburgh hospital shooting plot faces new charges

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (WCAX) – A disgruntled Plattsburgh hospital employee accused of plotting a mass shooting at his workplace faces new charges.

Robert Thibodeau, 52, appeared in court Friday. Acting on a tip, police intercepted Thibodeau on February 13 after they said he was headed to Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital to shoot employees.

Thibodeau now faces 11 charges against him, including eight related to criminal possession of a weapon and three with unlawful possession of an ammunition-feeding device. One criminal possession charge also accuses him of planning to use a gun against another person.

Court documents say those weapons included a 12 gauge shotgun, an assault rifle, one pistol, and two revolvers.

Thibodeau pleaded not guilty to the new charges. He’s due back in court on April 19th.
