Plattsburgh Common Council to consider waterfront revitalization plan

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y.. (WCAX) – Plattsburgh’s Common Council Thursday night is set to consider a waterfront revitalization plan.

Mayor Chris Rosenquest says the plan is a set of state and local rules and regulations for what can be built along the Lake City’s shores.

It also examines different waterfront spots in the city and past uses to ensure future development doesn’t impact rivers or the lake.

“We often only think about the beach — oftentimes that is what we are thinking about — but we have a significant amount of waterfront in the city of Plattsburgh. It is not just the city beach, it is Sailor Point Park, it is Sailor’s Beach, it is all along the river that runs through the heart of our city,” Rosenquest said.

There will be a public hearing on the plan prior to the council’s vote.
