AAA to alert drivers to stranded motorists, tow operators

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – New technology will soon allow some motorists to receive alerts about crash scenes or active tow truck operations, according to AAA.

Now in select areas, including Northern New England, when a AAA member requests roadside assistance and they are in an unsafe location, their location will automatically be displayed to other drivers in Waze, Apple Maps, and newer Stellantis vehicles. Once the AAA technician arrives on the scene, the alert will automatically update to notify approaching drivers of the tow vehicle, giving them critical additional time to safely slow down or move over.

Darren Perron spoke with AAA’s Dan Goodman about the new tool to aid in roadside safety.
