MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – Vermont’s AMBER Alert System will be tested on Tuesday afternoon, March 19.
The Vermont Department of Public Safety will test various components of the alarm system between 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
Thousands of people who subscribe to the VT-ALERT system will also receive messages at that time.
The test will also impact VTrans message boards and Vermont Lottery system signs and kiosks.
And people will see test messages on TV and hear them on radio stations.
However, the test will not trigger the Wireless Emergency Alert which can cause an alarming sound for smartphone users.
