Kasprzak officially kicks off Plattsburgh mayoral campaign

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (WCAX) – A new candidate Friday formally entered the mayoral race in Plattsburgh, but he’s no stranger to the job.

Former mayor Donald Kasprzak officially announced he is entering the race after the Plattsburgh Republican Committee earlier this week announced his endorsement.

Kasprzak previously served as mayor from 2006 to 2013. He says he wants to push for a new recreation center in partnership with the town and county, address rising drug use among the city’s youth, and bring more attention to the northern border.

“My philosophy back then — and it’s going to continue — is to work in the best interest of the majority of the taxpayers, residents and businesses of our community — that is very simple. And the other part of that piece in my formula is stabilize taxes and utility rates,” Kasprzak said.

And when it comes to a proposed waterfront hotel, he says he would like to do more research but is open to the idea.
