Rutland man sentenced for robbery spree

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – A Rutland man was sentenced Thursday to over six years in prison for his role in a robbery spree.

A federal judge in Burlington sentenced Brennan Bigelow, 33, to 80 months in prison after pleading guilty to four robberies and one attempted robbery over a five-month period starting in August 2022. The robberies included a convenience store on Woodstock Avenue, a gas station on South Main Street, a restaurant and a gas station on Route 4, and a pharmacy on Woodstock Avenue.

In each robbery, police say Bigelow brandished either a pellet gun, a knife, or a simulated concealed handgun and threatened to shoot the cashier.

While detained in connection with the federal case, authorities say Bigelow was convicted of assaulting another prison inmate and is awaiting sentencing in that case in New York.
