CONCORD, N.H. (WCAX) – A commercial truck driver from Ukraine who was acquitted of criminal charges in a crash that killed seven motorcyclists in New Hampshire wants his license back.
The Boston Globe reports a hearing for Volodymyr Zhukovskyy was held Tuesday in Concord, New Hampshire, where the 28-year-old asked for his license back.
Zhukovskyy was accused of being under the influence in the crash that killed seven people in Randolph, New Hampshire, in 2019. He was acquitted in 2022, but his license was suspended after his arrest and immigration officials detained him, citing several previous convictions for drug charges and driving with a suspended license.
A judge ordered Zhukovskyy’s deportation a year ago and there’s no record of an appeal, but with the ongoing war in Ukraine, efforts to send Ukrainians back have been paused.
